  1. While it's nice to see how long I have left before I derail, the current version of the IOS app doesn't tell me how much I need to do to make it back onto the right side of the road. Those three numbers from the website version of the graph would be nice to know on the IOS app!

  2. I have a github minder, but I notice that it seems to count my (public+personal) contributions as well as my (org+private) contributions.

It would be nice if we could configure options, at least for "public only" and "personal only", which would give us a set of four combinations. Alternatively, having public/private/both and personal/org/both as option sets could enable beeminding commits at work or even work-based OSS contributions.

  3. I literally cannot find a way to cancel my account. I thought I was in some sort of dummy run, where money doesn't change hands, but doesn't seem to be the case. Money IS being taken out, and I wasn't emailed to that fact, only a casual check of my bank account revealed this. The site is just too damned confusing, perhaps it was made semi-clear at one stage, who knows.

  4. I just started a goal with the week of flatness and my graph is blue, even though I'm nine days away from derailing! Also, I went on vacation a few months ago and put a few of my goals to zero while I was gone, and the colors for one goal told me I was going to derail even though I had a week and a half to derailment!

I think the "yellow brick road" analogy is okay, but it's just an analogy and adds an extra layer of interpretation in this and other cases (like the 0 safe day…

  5. There are social [1] and practical [2] reasons to write free software. For Beeminder, being something primarily used over the internet, the AGPL would probably be appropriate [3].

  6. Or, make the feedback button not float? I mean, have you seriously ever tried zooming in on a beeminder page in a mobile browser? That button fills up half the screen when you zoom in on anything. and people who want to leave feedback will find the link.

  7. Optimally from the same users if possible. I'm looking ahead to my next goal or goals after the Fat Cyclist challenge ends. I have a big goal for the end of the year, but I could easily break that down into 2 or 3 shorter term goals, e.g. 10% in the next 90 days. Would love to see your thoughts and data on short-term vs. long-term success

  8. I have made up some rules for myself that apply to all goals, It would be nice if I could add these next to the goal summary page, just like I can add fine print to each goal.

  10. If I have a goal whose road dial I have increased, but the changed slope has not been reached yet, does retroratcheting jump to the increased slope as well? The phrasing was unclear to me about whether I'd be back on the road at the same rate I've been at, or whether the rate would change to the rate at the akratic horizon.

  11. Could there be folders for certain goals so I can keep them all straight? I'd like a "Health" folder where I could log workouts, odometer readings, macronutrients splits eaten over the week, etc. A "Study" folder to keep track of the time spent on school, and a "Hobbies" folder so I could track things like time spent on reading outside of class, practicing an instrument, or time spent other self improvement goals.

“Started” may be an exaggeration but this no longer seems hard and is bubbling to the top of the list of priorities…

Rough sketch of the plan: Put the countdown to next derailment next to or in place of the “bob is minding” heading, which avoids the problem of someone accidentally burying an eep goal. And then kill frontburner/backburnering. And then add tags and sorting by whatever you like — tag, time-to-derailment, pledge, goalname. For tags you could specify in the url, like bmndr.com/bob/tag/foo (same as the blog).

  12. Withings (maker of the already integrated scale) makes an activity tracker. It would be nice to have this automatically update step data similar to the FitBit system on Beeminder. I am posting this even though there is already a post on the Pulse sleep tracking since I see those as two separate items. Activity is more important to me than sleep tracking.

  13. Old-school ticking sound as it's used in some pomodoro apps would be sufficient.

This would greatly mitigate the problem of forgetting to stop the timer!

  14. Currently, if I open a goal's page on June N, and leave it open in my browser until June N+1, and then I go to enter June N+1's information, I have to notice that the default day is wrong and I need to change it. It seems like it should update automatically so I don't have to pay attention to it.

  16. if you hover over "CUR RATE" on the graph you see the average rate. Daniel has confirmed that the code is old and the average rate is not correct and has said "I need to improve the statistics like this, and put them in a better place than mouseovers!"

  17. The best web app I've found for keeping track of Pomodoro-technique work intervals is this:
    http://www.pomodorowebapp.com/
... and it's honestly pretty sad. There's almost no interesting display of statistics, and you can't customize the work/break interval lengths!

As such, becoming the best online Promodoro timer/counter is low-hanging fruit. On the other hand, know lots of folks using Beeminder to track their Pomodoros...

Adding an ever-so-slightly customizable Pomodoro timer to your site could corner a new market segment, bring people to your site, and make things easier for existing users ;)

  18. The easiest use case would be for ramping running mileage whereas maybe I can run 6 miles per week now but want to be able to run 24 miles per week. I'd like to be able to say that I want to run 16 miles per week in 16 weeks and that my weekly mileage will ramp accordingly over the next 20 weeks. Bonus if it'd let me ramp by 10% each week (so it's not a linear increase), i.e. 6 miles week 1, 6.6 miles week 2, 7.26 miles week 3, 14.14 miles week 10, etc.

    Could call it…

  19. Some goals should not be allowed to enter more than 1 point/day (i.e. the graph can't increase by more than a value of 1 per day). Otherwise, I can "stack" a lot of points in one day to get really ahead of the yellow brick road, and then slack off for many days. I would be missing out on creating a daily habit by just "cramming" at the end. I've had to amend many of my goals to add a "no stacking" clause for this reason but it would be nice if that type of goal was supported out of…

  20. Right now, it shows <username>/<slug> and that's confusing when you've got multiple goals with similar slugs. Would also be nice if the widgets did the same thing (possibly trimmed to fit).
