set end date on goal
My goal is to save $3000 in 3 months. There is not goal category for "Save Money" so I chose the only one that seemed compatible - "Do More". When I set a goal using the Do More category it automatically makes a one year goal and automatically sets the points needed to 12,768 (?!). Why can't I set the end date for 3 months from now and why can't I make the points needed match dollars saved? The interface throughout Beeminder is baffling.
Did you see the comment I left on how to do this?

RE my last comment item 2: now I see that the comments are actually threaded under the suggestion. FYI when I first looked at it the comments were below the "post comment" button and I did not see them down there.

Okay, I saw your comment. You said "Hi there! Look for the "dial road" box underneath the graph. You can fiddle with how steep your road is there. You'll want to set the goal date, and the goal total -- 3000, and click the "dial it in" button. The field labeled "weekly rate" will tell you how much you need to save each week to reach your goal."
My comments are:
1) That's great. Per your suggestion I changed the end date to three months from now. And I adjusted the points needed to 3000 so that points translate to dollars for this goal.
2) not sure why your comments are not in this thread. Had to click the link to your name and then, click comments, and then find my issue just to see your comments. That system seems broken.
3) Now that you have explained Dial Road to me the system makes much more sense. Beeminder is a great idea but the interface is incredibly obtuse. Best of luck. -
