Let goals become "completed"
Currently, goals just sort of go on forever. When using Beeminder for tracking one-time goals, the goal list can become cluttered with old goals. The only way to remove a goal from the main window[1] is to individually remove all of the data points, then delete the goal itself.
[1] There is an "X" button, but it just moves the goal to the bottom, it doesn't hide it.
There’s now an akrasia-proof archive button in settings to get rid of old goals.

It seems reasonable that goals shouldn't be easy to delete. The "trophy case" tab idea really seems like the best idea.

I like the idea of a "trophy case" tab.
Related: I would like the "number of goals" for my profile to be the number of active goals only, not the total over time. -

Great Idea. You should be able to move it into a different folder and have it clearly marked as completed (or failed). Right now you're deprived of a lot of that satisfaction when the graph just keeps trailing on.

I guess I cross posted in the "delete goals" suggestion. But this one seems to feed into my thinking.
I will cast my vote here. I think there should be some sort of Hall of Fame / Shame. Where you should showcase your "thrill of victory" as well as your "agony of defeat".
Cash does sting, but shame will motivate.
Each goal has three targets: goal date, goal total, weekly rate. If you achieve either of the first two ... you're done. Goal either achieved or crash and burn. I guess you could argue that keeping above the weekly rate is achievement too - but there's always next week, so you roll on.
Maybe it would be(e) worthwhile to categorize these goals some (more):
date & total - Meet a deadline goal (have to do so much by such and such)
date & rate - Meet a deadline with a level of effort (the goal is the intensity)
total & rate - Hit a mark at a certain velocity (shooting for impact)It seems to me there are a variety of other goal types, but many finite goals would fall into the first category, maybe not ... need to noodle on that a bit more.
This sounds like the subject of a good blog post (or maybe a series...)

yeah i ve been making a lot of read book goals. and financial goals with budgets. I would like an archive button for budget goals. After a month of expenses and staying below the road I would like a way archive it and start again.

Trophy Case tab sounds like a good approach to this issue. Though one should also have the option to delete it completely. And you could also consider another tab for deleted uncompleted goals...

Hmm, this one has actually gotten worse, hasn't it? (We got rid of the "Less/More" thing and made it just a line that says "Archive".) Most of my goals are in fact open-ended so I never gave this enough thought, but you're totally right. Thinking about how best to do this. Please do keep chiming in with ideas!
Maybe just something like a Trophy Case tab where you can see all your completed goals?

So, I had this same issue, but I'm wondering if just keeping things that are below the line hidden would be a solution here. Right now, you can click on the "<< Less" text and the goals are hidden. Maybe those goals should remain hidden by default?
