  1. If one is juggling many beeminder graphs, it can be easy to forget if a graph has been updated for the day or not. Currently, checking a graph requires visiting the graph page, waiting for it to render, and then eyeballing the graph or the recent data as appropriate.

It would be lovely if—on the user's goal overview page—a visual indicator (such as a check-mark) appeared on graphs that have had data for that day already entered. This would allow the user to tell at a glance which graphs need tending.

  2. I would love to use beeminder to track how much money I'm saving (wich is not loewring expenses). But since the salary is once a month, it will be pointless to enter data each day.

  3. When "unarchiving" an archived goal it sensibly moves back to active goals. The tooltip, however, is still "Archive". I suggest it should be e.g. "Restore" and the button could be a + instead of an X.

  4. The button to add a pledge after a goal is underway seems to be totally nonfunctional.

I want to add a pledge, but when I click the "pledge $5" button above the graph, it just takes me straight to the page for updating my CC info. I have an up-to-date credit card on file already. I tried updating up but nothing changed.

I tested this 6/17/14 in both Chrome and Firefox. the button does nothing except take me to the payment settings page.

  6. Maybe it's just a documentation issue, but I can't figure out how to bring back archived goals, or interact with them in any way. Are they actually deleted?

  8. Explain better how to input data in your service and make your grahps simpler. I have been trying to use your service for over a month now and still don't understand it.

The original author of this suggestion just emailed to say we can now mark it as completed. We were delighted to learn that they stuck with us for two years and that they appreciate the progress we’ve made. We do still have a lot to do to make Beeminder self-explanatory to newbees. And we will get there! Thank you so much for bearing with us in the meantime! Keep the feedback coming…

PS: Here’s part of the “explain better” part in the meantime (until it’s truly self-explanatory): http://blog.beeminder.com/newbees

  9. For instance, I started a goal to get up earlier. The way to quantify this is "minutes-to-noon". Normally I wake up at 7:30 so I set the goal for 6 in 3 months. Obviously, first weekend one value was very low and the goal was counted as "derailed" and cannot be continued even though it wasn't, really - waking up is not like weight that you lose or building up miles on runs, so one slip is not super critical as long as it doesn't become a habit.
Maybe "maintain" goals could track the value being above threshold some percentile…

  10. Currently, the page title for goal pages is username/goal. When you have a lot of tabs open, you can just see the username part of it, which is not helping when you have several goal pages open and you want to switch to a specific one.

    Or:

As a user, I would like to have the goal title be at the start of the page title, so I can easily find the goal I am looking for when I have a lot of tabs open.

    ;)

  14. I made a goal of doing X minutes of work a day, but then I decided it'd be easier to enter in hours.

I'd love to be able to change the units (scale both the slope and the data point, in technical terms) so I can do stuff like that.

  17. Sometimes I don't wish to do more of something, I just wish to keep doing it everyday, like working on my thesis for at least 2 hours. I didn't find an easy way of setting up this goal on beeminder.

This is very much our fault that this isn’t clear but this is exactly what a “Do More” goal does. You tell it you want to spend 14 hours/week or however much and Beeminder holds you to that. You can increase or decrease the rate as you go.

If you literally want to do something every single day without exception indefinitely then you might prefer a Don’t-break-the-chain (aka Seinfeld hack) app — ideas at http://blog.beeminder.com/trackhack — but here’s why we think Beeminder is better:

The Seinfeld hack is great once you have a long chain built up. But once you do break the chain, all the motivation it provided bursts like a bubble. You’ve got to somehow motivate yourself to build up another long chain to not break. Until then you’re on a “one more day won’t matter” slippery slope of sloth.

  18. I subscribe to the idea that we should have off days where we don't have to do anything. Currently with beeminder, if I'm in the orange the day before the off day starts, I will be in the red the next day and will have to do work otherwise I lose the goal.

Off days should work so that if you survive the day before, and it's your off day, you can't lose.

Eep, this points out that we really need to redesign the take-a-break interface to make it clearer how to do this correctly! As dreeves points out in the comments, you can do this by setting the break one spot earlier on the calendar than you were expecting.

  19. It would be so tasty!
