Yeah I think except for twitter everything on the web should have things private by default and only share them if you specifically ask this per case of in general settings.

I noticed I forgot to finish the sentence at the top "have it go both ways," to finish that sentence...
Have it go both ways, making sure they receive a reward for good performance but punishment for bad performance. As I said later in the outlining of the idea it could be as simple as giving the people the option to set rewards and milestones and just mailing them the good news. Congrats you have passed the milestone, go and get yourself that cup of starbucks coffee you have been craving for or anything similar.

I understand the standpoint of bob smith. However, with bigger amounts, because of exponential system, I feel like at least some should go to a charity. If it's like 400 USD, it should be easy to donate say 50-100 USD to charity. I would also like seeing the system working both ways, being able to earn rewards for overperforming. Like earning back or something. I know these kinds of things are pround to attract cheaters but I feel like it would add value. Not all people are motivated by fear, some are motivated by rewards and just a show of appreciation. In fact I'm going to post the idea right now.

I also like this idea. Like when you want to try to stop drinking during weekdays but still want to be able to drink with buddies on the weekends. I used to have a similar rule and just because I got those ('cheat') days off, I was able to stick with it. Same thing with quit smoking but people actually want to downgrade to being a social smoker during weekends instead of trying to quit completely.
