  1. Sorry, but couldn't find the instructions I needed anywhere. Had to discover by trial and error. The Overview and articles were not enough. Thanks for considering.

  2. Currently if I am on a smaller form factor device such as my phone. I either have to zoom to see anything and drag around, or if my OS happens to have an app for it I can download it. Two problems with this. First is new mobile platforms are unsupported (I work on the Firefox OS project) the second is that the barrier to entry for using the site is a lot higher on mobile, I have to go find your app in the app store then download it, then I can start doing things.

  3. Once you're in the goal view, you could rotate your phone and the graph would come up filling the landscape view.

  4. My work and goal are both tracked under the same RescueTime category (Design & Composition). I want to increase my writing time, not track my work (I get my work done). The only way to get the data I need is via the subcategory :(

  7. A feature where I can put notes along my graph to signify benchmarks to qualitatively, rather than just quantitatively, see my progress...

For example, if I am trying to lose 100 pounds and set up a Beeminder graph accordingly, it'd be nice to have a note or symbol or any visual/text benchmark at the point in the graph that tells me "10 lbs Lost!"

This breaks up any big goal into benchmarks to steer my graph toward-- rather than just having a bulls-eye somewhere in the distance that I can't even see just starting out.

  8. I have a "work" goal where I input my starting hours (negative) and ending hours (positive) each day. So if I work 9-5 I would first enter -9 in the morning, then 17 in the evening. It's quite a hassle converting minutes to decimal numbers. I know the web platform allows inputting data in the "hh:mm" form, but the android app does not. Also, neither platform allows me to enter "-hh:mm" for my starting hours.

  9. I don't want reminders every day or on particular days of the week, but I definitely do want a reminder if it's the emergency day or day before. I can't do that with the current email settings.

  10. I have many goals tracking the amount of time I spend on a certain task or activity. It's super great that I can enter data in h:mm or m:ss format, but I'd like to be able to see my entered data and "bare min" counters in that format as well. For example, right now the goal page might say something like +0.66 to get back on the road; I have to open up a calculator and multiply by 60 to see that means 40 minutes. I want beeminder to do this multiplication for me. =)

    The idea would be to…

  12. I want to use beeminder to ensure I stay on-track for goals that are due in the short term e.g. < 1 week. For example, I have something due in three days and I need to write 5+ pages a day to finish on-time. It might even be nice if the frequency of the deadlines could be upped from once a day to perhaps 2-3 times a day.

  13. I love the RescueTime-Beeminder alliance - it's magic. I set RescueTime to send Alerts when I've worked 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 hours of Very Productive Time - so when I get tired, I feel good about what I did!

Adding some sort of rewarding Badge or Alert popup/text/email would make Beeminder even more addictive than it currently is. Seeing the graphs is a carrot; losing money is a stick. More carrots is always nice!

  16. (This is several features but it seems easiest to put them together; I can split them out if desired.)

I've been working with the Beeminder API, experimenting with alternate views of my goals, and there are some things that are either missing or nice-to-have:

    • The API doesn't seem to have access to the 'goal string', "Stay on the yellow brick road" or whatever I've replaced it with.
    • This is probably calculable from the given data, at least roughly, but the API doesn't provide the three-number green-blue-orange summary that shows up below the bare minimum. This would be really nice to…

  18. Brene Brown (http://www.brenebrown.com/) has done a lot of research and writing about shame, vulnerability and guilt. The summary of what she's written and what I've read is that shame tends to disable whereas guilt (or reaching out for help with vulnerability) tends to enable you towards goeals.

I suggest that instead the current message, it say something more like "hey everyone, give me hell until i re-rail on this goal. i just paid
    @bmndr $5 for derailing."

Less shame, more requests for support

  19. I don't know how you keep track of Beeminder blog posts, but an easy way to keep track of blogging and other publishing-type tasks (Twitter, Youtube, ...) would be to check an RSS/Atom feed and then count the posts / words / whatever.

  20. I have a number of activities I need to do once-a-week. Naturally, I'd like deadlines for these tasks to be uniformly distributed over the week.

Currently I cannot do that easily — I have either to enter them at the right time, or play with the slope over the time.
