  1. Beeminder already integrates with other services that are similar and some of us might want to have goals and track our progress with learning to code so this would be a great fit- I searched for Codecademy earlier and was Shocked that no one else had suggested this for feedback before...

    let's change this!~ :D

  2. In some goals each unit is indivisible, and doesn't make sense for the bare min numbers to display a floating point number. It would be more intuitive for them to show a round number.

  4. The "Do more" goal automatically sums, and is the default goal type. This is right for most of my goals, but for one of them, I selected that and started entering data.

I'd like to change it to not sum, but I don't see where I can do that. Is there a way? And if not, can there be a way?

  5. A helpful change would be to allow 10 unread emails before BeeMinder fails.

I often check my email from my phone but don't run my full GTD system from it. So it's more anxiety producing than helpful on net to have BeeMinder track inbox zero for me when it will just randomly mark me as failing for checking my email from other devices.

Also, I've tried to set this myself, but the interface is completely inflexible and won't let me edit the goal to be something like "under 10" even right after I've started. Why is there total lock-in immediately…

  7. My work and goal are both tracked under the same RescueTime category (Design & Composition). I want to increase my writing time, not track my work (I get my work done). The only way to get the data I need is via the subcategory :(

  8. Currently I track my car's mpg with a google form + spreadsheet but it would be awesome to do it in beeminder.

The thing I think is missing is that beeminder would need to do math. I input at every fillup: odometer, gallons added, and cost (and date, assumed from form input date). This lets me calculate mpg since the last fillup as well as dollars per mile.

Considering you can actually do a lot in personal driving habits and car maintenance to contribute to additional mpg, so long as you aren't stuck in traffic often, it is actually really…

  10. With the current naming, even while on the green, that countdown timer still sounds like an impending derailment, doom and gloom.

If renamed to "Safe Days" or "Safe Days Accumulated" it would be a positive resource, and would be internalized as such. A great safety buffer with the focus on things done right and achievements completed already, not time running out until an inevitable relapse down the road.

  11. The goals page is currently a real pain to get to. I have two suggestions to make it easier and more obvious to find:

    1) Make the top-left logo link to the goals page. This is pretty standard behavior. Right now it links to your landing page instead, which is useless to someone who is already signed up.

NOTE: To a lesser degree, the "Overview" link has the same problem. What is an "overview," if not my dashboard? But it takes me to an overview of Beeminder instead. As an established user, I don't care about that. I care about…

  12. If each goal had a configurable webhook, I could ask Beeminder to ping a URL of my choosing when I reach an emergency day, or a panic threshold. There are a few ways you could use this. But right now, I am thinking I could use it to trigger something like Twitter or Twillio (with a third-party service like Zapier to receive the webhook).

    Very much a "nice-to-have"!

  13. The iPhone app shows me a list of goals, sorted by urgently I need to do something about them, and includes a handy minimum value for the day.

The web dashboard sorts my goals in a similar manner, but there's no display of minimum values. I have to click into each goal to see what the minimum values are.

It would be handy to have this on the web dashboard.

  14. Right now, unless I'm missing something, I have to archive each graph individually, and the process is laborious. I would like to archive ALL of my old graphs. Please give us the functionality to select multiple graphs and archive them all at once. Thank you!

  15. I've observed a minor bug in the way the Beeminder iOS app is handling dates.

Let's say it's 20 Feb and I enter the following data:
    20 0.5
This immediately shows up in the list of data points as:
    21 0.5
The graph is drawn correctly and back on the website the graph and data points are correct, but the list in the iOS app is always off by one day (with the date listed as one day ahead).

This may possibly have something to do with the fact that I'm in Australia – a time zone issue.

    It's not…

  16. Say your goal is to hit the gym 10 times this April.

Get three of your friends to sign up on Beeminder. Just tell them that they'll get an email a few times a week to report their gym attendance.

Then put up 20 bucks each (with your credit cards ideally...or outside of Beeminder could be OK).

And let the games begin!!! Those who stay on the yellow brick road until the end, get the spoils from the quitters.

This feature will increase adherence 100X with the added incentive of trashing your friends, and in my modest opinion, blow up…

  17. My problem is that RescueTime goals are measuring unproductive time or productive time on the computer, and my goals for computer time each week can vary greatly depending on what's going on in my life. For me, the ratio of unproductive time to productive time would be a more useful measure. Essentially, no matter how many hours I am spending on the computer each week, I don't want more than x% of the time to be unproductive.

  20. Sometimes, on a beemergency day, I know that I'm not going to get back on the road that day. If I'm in a lucid forward-looking frame of mind, I'm already thinking about what slope to unfreeze with, re-evaluating the aggressiveness of the goal, the appropriateness of my fine print, etc.

What I want is the ability to take advantage of that mindset, even in the midst of a temporary setback. I don't like having to wait until tomorrow, hoping that my lucid goal-setting self is still active (and brave, if that's what's required).

I want to be able to manually…
